History

The original den was a wooden building that had been built during the war and used as a canteen providing for the needs of workers at AWE.

After the war the building became available for use as a scout den.

On Friday 17 May 1991 the appeal for a new Scout and Guide den at Baughurst was launched from the Mayors Parlour in Basingstoke. Councillor R A O'Bee, then Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, became its Patron. A plaque to him and the opening of the new den can be found in the foyer.

The land on which the den stands is held in trust for Baughurst village and is administered by the Village Hall Committee, who run the charitable trust.
